Any agent that runs commands can start from one prompt:
The agent installs cool and puts a welcome page online. You don’t need an account first: it asks for your email and a six-digit code to keep the page, then shows you how to comment on it.

Connect it yourself

Register the server as a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server named cool-computers:
It signs in with OAuth, as its protected resource metadata describes, and a new user can sign up during the sign-in. Its server card lists it for discovery. The server’s cool_* tools read your sites, computers, files, comments, and email. Its write tools publish a site (cool_publish), write files (cool_write_files), run a command on a computer with a VM (cool_exec), answer comments, and send email. Read tools need your sign-in. Write tools also check that your account holds the cool-computers:operate permission at the moment of the call. An MCP sign-in does not work for the HTTP API. A tool being available is not permission to use it. Ask your agent for the change you want, and approve email and long-running programs yourself. Agents that read skills can also add the cool-computers skill.

With an API key

A client that cannot do OAuth can send a Cool Computers API key as Authorization: Bearer <api_key>. Tool calls run on the key’s account, and revoking the key ends its MCP access. Create a key in Settings, or name one with the CLI:
The key is shown once. Keep it out of shared configuration and source control. The examples on these pages keep it in COOL_API_KEY.

Antigravity CLI

Add the server to ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json:

VS Code

Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace:
VS Code opens the browser to sign in to Cool Computers the first time it connects. In a local session only, an API key works too: VS Code asks for it once and stores it. VS Code does not forward a server that needs an ${input:...} value to Copilot harness sessions.

Zed

Add the server to context_servers in Zed’s settings.json:
With no Authorization header, Zed signs in with OAuth. With an API key, add a headers object beside url whose Authorization is Bearer followed by the key.

Grok CLI

OAuth opens on first use. You can also start grok, enter /mcps, select cool-computers, and press i to sign in.

Claude, ChatGPT and Grok

Each lists Cool Computers in its directory. See Claude, ChatGPT and Grok.

Check it works

Ask the agent:
It answers with your list. If you added the MCP server and it doesn’t:
  • Sign-in did not open: run the client’s login command or open its MCP settings and choose to authenticate.
  • The server is not connected: use the client’s status command, such as grok mcp doctor cool-computers, to see its error.
  • The tools only search this guide: you connected this guide’s documentation server. Remove it and add https://api.cool.computer/mcp. The documentation server only searches this guide and cannot reach your sites or computers.
